How Android fragmentation actually affects users

Android is growing at a phenomenal rate thanks in part to the many hardware options available to phone shoppers. Now Android is at an inflection point, with both phones and tablets on the market. With all this variance in hardware, and a growing application ecosystem, fragmentation is more of a concern than ever before for the users.

It’s all well and good to speak about Android fragmentation in the abstract; to discuss what it does to the integrity of the platform. What really matters, though, is what how it affects the users.
